Strength in Adversity

Over the past few months, I’ve interviewed person after person who have come to the end of themselves. They had hit the bottom we all fear. They were robbed of who they were in title, who they were in worth, and who they were intrinsically. Well, at least they thought they had lost off of those things. I’m not kidding. I would not want any of their journeys: cancer, divorce, death, loss, addiction and pain…lots and lots of pain.

“Ted Lasso” is a new show on Apple TV. It’s a comedy. So, that’s a win. I mean, who can’t use a good laugh right now. But more than the laughter it gives you hope and a glimpse of who we could be. When I tell you the plot you may think I’ve lost my mind when I talk about the wisdom in the sitcom, but have patience. I’ll get you there.

December is a month of hope…one of miracles. Beyond the gifts, delicious food, and gatherings… It’s also a time to reflect on loved ones we’ve lost and gratitude for the incredible people we have in our lives. We usually do this in moments of quiet. I personally like to curl up next to a twinkling Christmas tree and meditate on the influence of those who have impacted my journey.
